I write to thank you for the kind gift of a signed copy of your 5000 Cookbook, which I shall add to my not inconsiderable collection. I have always, as you probably know, been a keen advocate of recycling.
And as the daughter of an Anglican Vicar I am also grateful for your practical, pragmatic exegesis of the Miracle of the Loaves and Fishes. I remember my father preaching the self-same sermon as you many years ago.
The miraculous in all its forms is, I find, what turns people off Christianity. If only the Gospels had more simple, homely moral lessons, and less of the unbelievable stuff!
Then ordinary families would flock to Church again, and everything could be as it was.
In gratitude for the book and for your tireless work in bringing the Catholic Church into the twenty-first century,
Your friend and admirer,
