HE pers. pro.; 3rd sing.; man, male; hist. The term was commonly in use until the Gender Assignment Act of 2024, when it was replaced by the gender-neutral term ‘ZE’. Use of the pronoun HE is strictly forbidden by Act of Parliament, except in direct quotations from texts dating from before 1900. Such is also the case with the pronoun ‘SHE’, with the same exception. ‘SHE’ may also be employed to express sentimental attachment to inanimate objects – ships, cars, aeroplanes, etc. (See also the Parliamentary regulations governing the use of ‘IT’, q.v.)
Note: Both the Oxford Student Union and the University authorities have denied the reports in numerous newspapers (from London to New Delhi) on which Transgender translation was based.
