Pope Frncis told Father Spadaro he wonders why some young people, who were not raised with the old Latin Mass, nevertheless prefer it.
‘And I ask myself: Why so much rigidity? Dig, dig, this rigidity always hides something, insecurity or even something else. Rigidity is defensive. True love is not rigid.’
So it’s official.
People with a preference for the Extraordinary Form of the Mass – especially young people – are social misfits who probably have other psychological problems.
It has obviously not occurred to the Holy Father that he, as much as they, is a victim of the generation gap – that his judgemental attitude springs not from wisdom but from lack of imagination.
